Steve Knight's Wine Reviews
| Benzinger Fumé Blanc* 1998 Sonoma County $9.98 (with Club Card at Pavilions) |
|
| 97%
Sauvignon Blanc blended with 3% Semillion, this wine presents a floral
bouquet with herbal undertones that also show up in the crisp, clean
flavor mixture of apples, pear, citrus and a hint of cherimoya. Its
soft on the palate and nicely dry with plenty of fruit, and an acid
balance that makes enjoyable by itself or with food. It should work
well with foods such as fresh salads, grilled fish or chicken.
*Fumé Blanc is another name for Sauvignon Blanc, which is used to make the white wines bearing the French Appellation Côntrollée Sancerre. |
