What the label says: "...Black currant, pepper-spice, cherry and warm plum flavor envelope [sic] the mouth, while you savor a toasty oak nose. It is particularly delicious with wild game and roasted lamb."

My comments: I found the label description accurate. This wine is rich with bright fruit flavors, peppery undertones and a fairly strong acidic balance that makes it a good companion for strong flavored foods. I first enjoyed it with homemade Texas-style chili, and it paired very nicely. The body is substantial, the color is intense and bright, tannins are moderate, and the nose does indeed impart the aroma of oak. In my opinion, this is a good wine for the money. Drink it now or set some aside for the future. It is likely to age nicely.

*Shiraz is the Australian name for the Syrah grape
