Garlic (Allium Sativum)

This plant grows to a height of 2 feet and has pink flowers in small heads. It is an annual that is propagated by separating the cloves and planting in spring. Garlic is harvested in the early fall or late summer, just like a mature onion, when the leaves turn brown. Garlic is stored like an onion. There are many uses for Garlic and it has often been called "The Poor Man's Penicillin", because of its high medicinal value. The most common uses of Garlic are in cooking, in salads, soups, Garlic butter, sauces, and Italian dishes.
