Strawberries: These ruby jewels are the most popular of all berries. They are in the market almost all year, but peak during the summer. Select firm, glossy red berries with their caps on. They vary in size but size doesn't necessarily indicate quality. Choose berries which are uniformly ripe. Always wash before removing caps.

How to Choose and Store:

Choose fresh-looking, firm berries. To store, pour on a shallow tray, remove soft or bruised berries. Store in refrigerator, unwashed. Use as soon as possible and wash just before using.
