Christmas Tree Trimming Tips
|
·
LIGHT
THE DARKEST AREA FIRST.
Wrap
the first string of lights down around the center of the tree, and
then start again from the top, doing the outer branches and the tips,
using as many strings as necessary.
This creates a glow from within and ensures a shiny exterior.
·
DRAPE
GARLANDS FROM BOTTOM UP.
“Garlands (such as strings of tinsel or beads) should be wrapped
around tree at one-to one-and-a-half-foot intervals to set the style.
Adjust and space from there.” ·
KEEP
YOUR ORNAMENTS TO SCALE.
It
can never be said enough.
”A large tree needs large ornaments-no tiny things.
Likewise, big ornaments on a small tree bend branches and look
odd. “Put on the largest items first, securing the biggest at the
bottom to balance the silhouette. ·
START
WITH THE THEME.
When working with a single color motif, create texture and depth with a variety of ornament shapes.
Always hang the predominant color first.
Then fill spaces with decorations in the accent color. ·
TOUCH
UP WITH RIBBONS.
Ribbons
come last.
They pull the ornaments together and cover holes and unsightly
cords. Suggestion weaving long ribbons in and out of the branches.
Avoid laying them on the branches. · PLUMP UP THE BASE. Skirting around the bottom balances the tree and conceals cords. Any pretty piece of fabric that complements the theme will do. Crumpled newspaper into balls and laid a gold cloth on top of them. “Drape the material in a loose, slightly wrinkled way to make it look more natural. |
